Re: Latest Xorg upgrade broke the keyboard under X

Hi,

Search the list for my email on the same subject, all of the cursor/keyboard/etc is now stored here instead:

/etc/hal/fdi/policy/10-x11-input.fdi

In addition you need the:

  | | <*> Event interface

Option enabled.

Justin.

Dear all,

I have been running debian test ( updated rather frequently), I am
using a Microsoft Natural Ergonomic 4000 keyboard. I chose it because
of the split layout of keyboard and the larger Ctrl and Alt keys that
makes the daily use of Emacs less painful, I do not need the extra
multimedia keys.

Previously the keyboard worked fine under both console mode and Xorg,
my xorg.conf has the following section:

Section "InputDevice"
       Identifier "Generic Keyboard"
## Driver "keyboard"
       Driver "kbd"
       Option "CoreKeyboard"
       Option "XkbRules" "xfree86"
       Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
       Option "XkbLayout" "se"
       Option "XkbVariant" "nodeadkeys"
EndSection

Bus the latest upgrade broke the keyboard under X, many keys stopped
to response. It works fine under console mode. There are several lines
in my /var/log/Xorg.0.log that appears to complain some
mis-configuration:

(**) Option "xkb_rules" "evdev"

Can someone help to point out what is wrong with the Xorg.conf? Why
the Microsoft Natural 4000 model is activated even not specified in
the xorg.conf, can I just block it and use it as a normal keyboard?

Thanks in advance!
