Easy. Go to /etc/network/interfaces (which is a file) and put your
data there like this:
# This file describes the network interfaces available on your
# system
# and how to activate them. For more information, see interfaces(5).
# The loopback network interface
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
# The primary network interface
allow-hotplug eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.1.101
netmask 255.255.255.0
broadcast 192.168.1.255
gateway 192.168.1.1
Concerning the Nic, put the driver name into /etc/modules (which is,
again, a file) so that the kernel can load it at boot time.
Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Roman
