"FATAL: [...] modules.dep not found" messages at boot time
I've recently built linux kernels 2.6.15 and 2.6.16 using make-kpkg,
and in both instances, although everything works fine, I am greeted
with a stream of error messages at boot time stating that the
modules.dep file is not found.
When building 2.6.16, towards the end of the make-kpkg command I
noticed the following message:
depmod -q -FSystem.map -b /usr/src/linux-source-2.6.16/debian/linux-image-2.6.16 2.6.16;
/bin/sh: depmod: command not found
When I went to check the contents of /lib/modules/2.6.16 I found the
directory had not even been created.
However, when I ran dpkg to install the newly created kernel package I
noticed the following message:
Setting up linux-image-2.6.16 (sebyted.1.0) ...
Running depmod.
Upon checking for /lib/modules/2.6.16 once again, I found it had now
been created, and populated, as follows:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 44 Jun 26 09:13 source -> /home/sebyte/src/usr_src/linux-source-2.6.16
However the stream of 'FATAL' error messages complaining that
/lib/modules/2.6.16/modules.dep is not found persists.
Yet the system is working fine... *scratch*
