VMware should work fine for you. I have used GSX to run production servers and it has been very stable. I don't use the workstation version very extensively but I have friends that have had some serious file corruption when running XP with it. It works fine usually, just be sure to backup your data _very_ regularly. Note that you'll have a serious performance hit when you're running VMware, so if you are running incredibly complicated computations on a virtual machine be prepared to wait longer for results than you would if it were your host OS. -Peter On Fri, Jan 20, 2006 at 06:11:15AM -0700, roberto wrote: > hi all > i need actually to use math software like matlab and maple whose linux > version are not available to me > > now i am considering in purchasing VMware to solve the problem and use > those applications within it... without frequently rebooting into XP > which is very boring... > > is there anyone who has already did it and what has been his/her experience? > > thank you all! > -- > roberto > OS: GNU/Linux, debian sarge > kernel: 2.6.8-2-386 > KDE: 3.3 >
