  That should be:

    dpkg-source -x gtk-gnutella_0.96b-1.dsc

 Without the '-x' you'll not have the source unpacked.

  "apt-get build-dep gtp-gnutella" ?  Assuming the dependencies are
 unchanged between Sarge and unstable.
