taking out one of the memory sticks, i get different errors, but along
the same lines. I still get this line:

Loading modules: spurious 8259A interrupt: IRQ7

and the, while it's fscking the partitions, i see lots of this:

memory.c:100: bad pmd 050001e3.

line after line of it, with different hex numbers.

taking out the OTHER memory stick, and using the first one instead, i
get a screen full of this:

Unable to handle kernel paging request<1>Unable to handle kernel paging
request<1>Unable to handle kernel paging request<1>Unable to handle ker
nel paging request<1>Unable to handle kernel paging request<1>Unable to
 handle kernel paging request<1>

et cetera.

HOWEVER, then, it boots just fine! i'm skeptical as to how long it will
stay up, since it just died by itself on friday ... but this appears to
be working for now, with just one 256M stick of memory in there.

i guess the longer-term solution is to get new memory? hmm.

thanks!
