ps shows UID instead of username

On three of my boxes running Sid, the output of ps just shows the UID
for some users. `top` will show the username, and the output of `id`
is correct.

How would one fix this? I've tried searching Google for awhile to no
avail.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have.
