Re: Debian on an old PC

I’ve got debian woody running on an old Packard Bell P100, a 6 GB HD, 64Mb RAM; so I guess its possible.

I got both Gnome and KDE desktops running on it. I’m trying to upgrade to Sarge but am having trouble getting X installed.

Otherwise I’m quite happy with it. My 2 cents avoid a full blown desktop and use just windowmaker or blackbox (they seemed to be the most responsive on my system.)

If you do use a desktop Gnome “seemed” to run faster than KDE – for some things.

HTH,
