the way "they" can get (useful) free help for free or for $$$
	- show what you did to try to solve the problem
		- the command line would be goood ...
		- clicking on buttons drives everybody bonkers...
( which sequence of buttons did you click ?? - i donno ..
( help me anyway .. batting lashes and pouty face :-0

	- show that you read the manuals, howto, archives
	- in mailing list, post the example of what you think is a problem
	  ( the error message )

- if they made an effort ... i usually reply ...
	- btw... i dont reply to private emails for "help" :-)

- usually, its faster to ssh into the box and fix the problem
in less time than the time spent to reply via (multiple) emails
	- esp when you're there for the duration to get the problem solved
( whether by email, phone, onsite, etc...etc..

	- when you bring the car into the shop, or go to the doctor
you let them do their magic and they're off to the next task
vs the mechanic watching over you as you fiddle ...
		( drives me nuttso ..

- fun stuff either way ...

c ya
alvin
