Well to be perfectly honest I'd have to say that I am writing this from
a gentoo box since it was impossible to do a debian netinstall with my
motherboard - working on it though ;-)
I did follow a howto from gentoo at
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/alsa-guide.xml
I don't know how this compares to the debian way since I had to
recompile my kernel leaving everything without any drivers for sound
cards only 'Sound Card Support' build as module without any drivers.
