Note that this is not 'supported' by Debian, since this could
potentially involve things like reverting configuration files where the
format has changed, or complicated changes of dependencies and such...It
does work for a fair number of people, though, so it's certainly worth a
try.  Also, http://www.debianplanet.org/ had an article a couple of
months ago about this very topic; it might be worth digging it up.
