/etc/init.d/fetchmail start fails with strange error

Hi,
Has anyone had this error before?
debian:/home/robert# /etc/init.d/fetchmail start
Starting mail retrieval agent: fetchmail/etc/init.d/fetchmail: line 178: 1911
Segmentation fault start-stop-daemon ${START} "--command=${DAEMON}
${OPTIONS}" ${RUNUSER} 0>&- >/dev/null 2>&1
(failed!)
The script is the original and it worked before, but after I have removed some
stuff from /etc/rc2.d it ceased working.
If I run fetchmail by hand it works beautyfully and the start stop daemon does
work with all the other scripts. So I cannot find any reason, why this script
does not work. Any ideas?
Thanks
Robert
