trouble with Apache and PHP4 on Woody

I have embarked on the adventure of converting the lab I just took over
administering. I have 12 computers (10 workstations and 2 servers) running
RH9 and I am moving to Debian. I brought home one machine that has identical
hardware to the current webserver/mailserver/firewall. I booted Knoppix on
it last night and did a chroot install of Woody.

The real challenge is that I must completely replicate the functionality and
content of the current machine on the new machine. That way I can simply plug
in the new machine, boot it up, unplug the network cables from the old machine
and into the new machine, and have minimal down time.

I installed Apache 1.3 and PHP4, but I can't get them to work. I tar'ed up the
/var/www directory on the remote machine and scp'ed it to the new one, where I
untar'ed. Since the current machine is running Apache 2.0, on RH9, the
DocumentRoot is set to /var/www/html, and there are other things in /var/www
that should not be publicly accessible. I edited /etc/apache/httpd.conf and
change the DocumentRoot to /var/www/html/, added the appropriate entries for
PHP processing, and restarted Apache.

The problems I am having are:

1) when punch 192.168.0.4 (the IP of the machine on my network) into the
address bar of Firebird, I get the placeholder page instead of the page
from /var/www/html/
2) when punch 192.168.0.4/html/ into the address bar, I get a dialog box
indicating that Firebird doesn't know what do with one of the .php files, and
would I like to download it or use the default app. So it looks like PHP is
not processing the scripts.

Any ideas on what I am missing?

Also, some other things which I will need to get working shorlty and would like
some suggestions on:

1) Duplicating an existing MySQL database (I have no experience with MySQL)
2) Getting apache-ssl sonfigure to work with Horde for secure email with
IMAP (I think). I will also need to copy the keys and certificates of the
current machine.
