Cool. The State's website will automatically send it to the right
people, or you can grab their email addresses off the responses I reposted.

No. I sent a brief (1 paragraph) statement just giving them a headsup
and a quick summary. If you can be more verbose, please do. I had an
advantage in that my mention was the first time they had ever heard of
it. Now that they know, rally around it and mail them arguments in
support, we *ARE* working against paid lobbyists (BSA and ISC) and
make sure they know they have real constituants with real interest in
this issue, or the lobbyists will convince this one to fail with the
lamest excuse ever.[1]

It's not my understanding that our local (Beaverton) reps and senator
follow technology, so please take some time to put things in layman's
terms. If you haven't done a lot of advocacy before, now would be a
good time to hit up the Advocacy mini-HOWTO on TLDP.

[1] In the BSA's argument in opposition, they claim that it could cost
20,000 BSA-member jobs in Oregon. Never mind that Intel and IBM make
up all but a few hundred of those jobs, Intel wouldn't be adversely
affected and IBM stands to possibly gain support contracts with the
state now that IBM has been thinking post-Microsoft for years now, and
the rest only deal in firmware for various radio-connected telephones
(cellular, PCS, etc) and other similarly microembedded devices where
there isn't a major, if any, open source push.
