Re: DHCP/DNS assistance [SOLVED]
At least I'm assuming so. I found this, not sure why I didn't see it the
first time. Maybe hazy from a nice couple of 5 hour sessions searching
stuff...anyhow, this seems to be what I wanted and more (includes some sort
of basic ip_tables script and how to check kernel configuration). It
doesn't involve any use of a DNS server, though. Just identifies the same
ones the server is using to the clients. I wonder if that's
insecure...Well, for those who may be interested, here's the link...

...I'm going to toss it to a couple boards I visit occasionally to see if
they catch something my untrained non-intuitive eye misses...Thanks for the
answer Colin, seems I've read that one a few times. I subscribe to mentors,
nice to see that you guys (saw Henry too) get to the ghetto...the
community's even better than I knew. And the desktop consortium's a GREAT
idea (is there something similar for the server side, besides teh guys @
IBM?). I haven't personally tried it but the guys at Riverdale school here
in pdx have developed server/thin client system aimed at schools and
distributed to about 5000 sites last year. We got a lot of publicity when
M$ laid smackdown on the district. Come to find out, they did it to a lot
of districts across the nation last year, maybe it's for the better...but I
digress. Thanks again, all.
See you guys over on DD after I graduate (maybe sooner!).
Ciao!
