Where are the alsa-modules for 2.4.19?

Hi,

I have been compiling my own kernels during the last years, but am
getting lazy and recently installed 2.4.18 and 2.4.19 on various boxes.
(The 2.4.18 kernel still had to be custom made for the Dell Inspiron 4100
due to ACPI problems.)

One problem with kernel 2.4.19 is that there are no alsa-modules
available for that kernel. For 2.4.18 there was. Is there any reason
why not? pcmcia-modules are available for both 2.4.18 and
2.4.19. Other modules not available in either kernel are
e.g. lm-sensors and device3dfx.

Saw the recent thread on debian-user: "Writing a kernel building
walkthrough - proofreaders wanted". Please add also how to compile
modules to this document, especially how to compile modules for a
stock kernel, not a custom made one, since this is much easier.

BTW: Are alsa, lm-sensors etc going to make it into the kernel. If
not, until people start using the next stable release series, 2.6.x
(whenever it comes out), there should be good walkthroughs for these
kind of modules. (Or maybe, even better, Debian stock kernels should
have these built in already!!)

A Debian GNU/Linux user waiting for the Debian GNU/Hurd release,
Svante
