When someone posts a question and proposes a solution, followed by a
thread of responses on how to impliment that solution, shows to me
that very few people have done support work professionally.

Here's a tip: Sometimes the proposed solution isn't the best one.
Feel free to suggest a more effective solution, especially if the
originally proposed one isn't particularly practical or is rather
Goldbergian.  Ask for clarification if you don't have a good concept
of what the issue is (folks jumped the gun this time on this point).
