Thank you!  I had downloaded the latest gkacpi version (0.3).  Now I've
downloaded and installed version 0.2.1 and it appears to be working
properly.  (Well, maybe not on the thermal side, which reports 0C :)

Thanks again for the help.

(This list has _by far_ the most helpful folks on it I've ever encountered
on such a list - thanks to all!)
