fetchmail

Just as I thought I'd got exim configured properly, fetchmail and
fetchmailconf now refuse to run:-

`umask 077; fetchmail --configdump --nosyslog >/tmp/@1928.0' run failure,
status 1280
Unknown error while running fetchmail --configdump


I'd appreciate some help.  I tried uninstalling it and then re-installing,
but get the same problem.
