You can use loadkeys (for the console) and xmodmap (for XWindow) to
redefine the keys. For more details, man loadkeys, man xmodmap. FYI,
here are the corresponding data concerning the numeric keypad that
I use, but you may need a different configuration depending on your
machine:
For loadkeys:
plain keycode 82 = zero
plain keycode 79 = one
plain keycode 80 = two
plain keycode 81 = three
plain keycode 75 = four
plain keycode 76 = five
plain keycode 77 = six
plain keycode 71 = seven
plain keycode 72 = eight
plain keycode 73 = nine
plain keycode 98 = slash
plain keycode 55 = asterisk
plain keycode 74 = minus
plain keycode 78 = plus
plain keycode 83 = period
plain keycode 96 = Return
For xmodmap:
keycode 63 = asterisk asterisk
keycode 79 = 7 7
keycode 80 = 8 8
keycode 81 = 9 9
keycode 82 = minus minus
keycode 83 = 4 4
keycode 84 = 5 5
keycode 85 = 6 6
keycode 86 = plus plus
keycode 87 = 1 1
keycode 88 = 2 2
keycode 89 = 3 3
keycode 90 = 0 0
keycode 91 = period period
keycode 108 = Return Return
keycode 112 = slash slash
