Hi.

CS4236 is an enhanced CS4232.
See /usr/src/{your_kernel_source_root}/Documentation/sound/CS4232.

How can you find that?

grep 4236 /usr/src/linux/Documentation/sound/*

You'll get two files README.OSS (where you read that CS4236 is 4232
compatible) and CS4236 which contains all you need.

At general, grep within your kernel docs will usually reveal enough to
start (and mostly finish) with. Read also LDP's HOWTOs and other docs at
http://www.linux.org.
