I had a similar problem with my SCSI CD-RW after switching to
devfs. The solution for me was "insmod sr_mod", that recogniced
again my CD-RW as a cd reader. The device also changed from
/dev/scd0 to /dev/sr0 (that is a symlink to
scsi/host0/bus0/target3/lun0/cd).
Give it a try. This could help
