  vi (vim or gvim are my favourite clones) or other text editor (emacs
with viper?-), make, set of xterms...

  also learn how to use tags...

  ddd is fairly usable front-end for gdb.

  linux is ide (in OS where tools work together you don't need IDE in
dos/windows sense)
