I get 'unable to fetch' error, or after a successful apt-get update the apt-get dist-upgrade gives http 404 errors, then I change servers in my sources.list and try again. Sometimes the dist-upgrade says there's no packages to update. I usually try a few times and then it goes. I dunno what's up, but hope that helps.
