  can you post more exact message? I can only see pio AFTER the hda:

ide1: BM-DMA at 0xc008-0xc00f, BIOS settings: hdc:pio, hdd:pio

  can you post the output of dmesg?

  if you see hda somewhere it means it recognized disk (I guess)
