no route over ppp0/modem

I configured my machine with the network option (not planning on using an
ISP). Now, I have a private termserv connection that I need (would
like) to
dial in to. I apt-get installed wvdial, it dials and connects and starts
ppp with no errors. But....I can't do anything over the link. Any TCP/IP
requests route to my LAN gateway, not to the modem/ppp interface.

So, how do I fix this? The objective is to be able to dial in and use the
private network for corporate email (it is completely, absolutely
firewalled from access from my ISP) occasionally...while normal internet
usage should route to my LAN gateway I would expect that when connecting
with the modem, all TCP/IP activity would go over the ppp0 interface, and
when the modem is not connected, it heads out over the LAN.

Thanks

Jim
