How to confiure debian 2.0 for AOpen FM-56H modem??
Hello,
I have installed debian 2.0 on my pentium-11 pc, along with Windows NT
4.0 The machine has an internal modem AOpen FM-56H (Rockwell Chipset)and
is using COM3 port for Windows NT. I can't check the IRQ on NT because
the Advace button in the setting of ports dialog box is grayed out. I
remember that COM3 port was created automatically when i was installing
the driver for modem under NT
Under debian linux, i have configured the ports as fallows: (o/p of
0setserial)
/dev/ttyS0 at 0x03f8 (irq=4) is a 16550A
/dev/ttyS1 at 0x02f8 (irq=3) is a 16550A
/dev/ttyS2 at 0x03e8 (irq=4) is a 16550A
/dev/ttyS3 at 0x02e8 (irq=3) is a 16550A
I am using kermit to test the connection with modem. It won't let me
set the /dev/ttyS2 or /dev/ttyS3 port for serial connection. I get the
following message
C-Kermit>set line /dev/ttyS2
/dev/ttyS2 is not a terminal device.
.... can not open /dev/ttyS2
(Same for /dev/ttyS3)
I also tried using /dev/ttyS0 and /dev/ttyS1 for connection, and it
hangs.
C-Kermit>set line /dev/ttyS0
...
...
,,
C-Kermit>c
connecting to /dev/ttyS0..
....
....
(and now it won't take any input from me, it just hangs. I had to use
the escape sequence.
What should i try next? any idea(s)?
Thanks,
-Rakesh
