I tried to do this and failed, so settled for the Windows thing. However you
can quite easily reprogram the offending keys to do whatever you want; in my
case they are labelled Home, End, Esc because I find it more convenient to
have those near my hands at the bottom of the keyboard. Just run showkey to
find what keycode mumbers are generated and then enter them in your key map.
