Thanks for your answer. But there is still one problem. After I 
finally installed xcontrib xman is also running fine. But xman "has 
not a manual entry" for e.g. "scanf". The thing is that "man scanf" 
shows the manual page for scanf - how do I configure xman, so that 
they use the same database ?
