No, there is a copyright problem with the shadow suite for Linux. It seems
that a new Linux shadow package with a more suitable copyright is in the
works.

Donald> As well what would be involved to shadow the passwords

Err, do you know what shadow passwords are? All it means is that the
world-readable file /etc/passwd does no longer contain the encrypted password
which are moved to the file /etc/shadow which is only root-readable. They are
hence hidden from crackers. "In the shadow" as opposed to "in the sunlight".

In case your question meant "what would be involved to create a shadow
password suite", the answer is "a lot". Check the mailing list archive for
debian-devel on http://www.debian.org where some other schemes were also
discussed not too long ago.
