Una vez que se reconoce el dispositivo este permanece hasta que reinicias.
por eso te decía que ejecutando como root "fdisk -l /dev/sdX" siendo X
la siguiente letra a la última que use tu sistema, activa el evento de
udev y entonces ya aparece el disco.
