openldap konfigurieren

Moin,
ich versuche gerade openldap zu installieren. Leider ist das alles mal weider 
gar nicht so einfach. 
Ich möchte eigentlich "nur" ein Adressbuch für KDE, Thunderbird usw. Ich habe 
mich an diese Anleitung orientiert:

Nun mein erster Versuch einen Abfrage:
# ldapsearch -x -D "cn=admin,dc=myDomain,dc=de"
ldap_bind: Server is unwilling to perform (53)
        additional info: unauthenticated bind (DN with no password) disallowed

# ldapsearch -X -D "cn=admin,dc=myDomain,dc=de"
ldap_sasl_interactive_bind_s: No such attribute (16)

In meiner slap.conf steht u.a. folgendes:
suffix          "dc=myDomain,dc=de"

access to attrs=userPassword
        by dn="cn=admin,dc=myDomain,dc=de" write
        by anonymous auth
        by self write
        by * none

Bei der Installation wurde ich nach einem Admin-Passwort gefragt. 

Kann mir da jemand einen Tip zu geben. Im Moment finde ich das alles einfach 
nur verwirrend.
