Kann es sein, dass deine wget-Version nicht mit so großen Dateien klarkommt?
(Ich meine, da mal so etwas gehört zu haben, immerhin ist das Image 4 GB groß...)
Standardtipp: Probier mal, ob Du es mit einem Knoppix-wget herunterladen kannst.
