nfs mount dauert ewig

Hallo,

wenn ich ein nfs Verzeichnis mounte dauert das ewig.
Hab woody laufen.
Es kommen ein paar 'kernel messages' die ich nicht verstehe.
(2.4.20 mit preempt-patch selbst gebacken, aber auch debian 2.4.18-bf2.4)

Kommando:
stefan@stefan:~$ mount /mnt/pub 
=> es passiert erstmal gar nichts. Prompt kommt ewig nicht zurück.

/etc/fstab :
server:/mnt/md0/pub    /mnt/pub  nfs  noauto,user 0 0

stefan@stefan:~$ ps 
ergibt:
1643 pts/9    D      0:00 mount /mnt/pub

stefan:~# tail -f 30 /var/log/messages
ergibt:
17:16:03 stefan kernel: portmap: server localhost not responding, timed out
17:21:18 stefan kernel: portmap: server localhost not responding, timed out
17:26:33 stefan kernel: portmap: server localhost not responding, timed out

und dann hat es endlich geklappt (nach 10 Min). Prompt von mount kommt zurück.
Ich kann einwandfrei auf das nfs- Verzeichnis zugreifen.

Was soll das mit localhost?
NFS Server heißt "server"
NFS Client heißt "stefan"

Ich hab noch ein "Linux from the scratch" auf "stefan" laufen, mit dem 
klappt's sofort.
Hat jemand eine Idee?
