Woody + Postgresql

Hallo,
ich habe wutentbrannt postgresql mit apt-get remove von meinem Woody-Server
entfernt, weil ich mich mit SQL-Ledger einfach nicht anmelden konnte.
Nun will ich postgresql-contrib und postgresql neu installieren, und das
funktioniert nicht. Zum Beispiel haben die config-Files in /etc/postgresql
Null Bytes und /usr/lib/postgresql/postmaster wird von root nicht gefunden.
Da ich von postgresql keine und von Woody noch wenig Ahnung habe, suche ich
vergeblich nach dem Schlüssel für die Lösung meines Problems. Kann mir jemand
auf die Sprünge helfen? In den Dokumentationen funktioniert immer alles so
schön. Schraube hier, nagel dort und der Motor läuft.... - jedenfalls nicht
bei mir.
