Debian lenny sur Dell Studio Hybrid

Je viens d'acheter, et de recevoir, un Dell Studio Hybrid
(http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/category.aspx/desktop-studio?c=fr&l=fr&s=dhs&cs=frdhs1&~ck=bt).
La carte réseau RJ5 Gigabit fonctionne correctement sous lenny
(installation de la version amd64), et j'ai l'impression que le reste
aussi... (pas encore vérifié le wifi).
Cependant GDM / X a vraiment une tête bizarre. Pour pas dire inutilisable !
Tout caractère que je tape s'affiche étrangement... Tout ce qui est
tapé est en forme des carrés, des traits d'union ou d'autres éléments
cabalistiques... Pire, une fois que je me suis connecté sur le bureau,
tout menu est "strié", totalement illisible.
Cependant j'ai configuré X avec cette ligne de commande : "Xorg -configure".
J'ai effectué quelques tests, notamment sur la résolution d'affichage
(sans succès), ou encore la profondeur des couleurs (sans succès
aussi).
Mon fichier xorg.conf est plus bas...
Comment puis-je mieux vous décrire mon problème ? Que faire pour avoir
gdm/X qui s'affiche correctement ?
