Das hört sich so an, als ob es in der /etc/ppp/pap-secrets oder
chap-secrets keinen Eintrag für die Einwahl gibt. Bei mir steht etwa
(ohne daß ich den Rechner tatsächlich für Dial-In benutze) in
pap-secrets:
# INBOUND connections
# Every regular user can use PPP and has to use passwords from /etc/passwd
