RE: XCDRoast and HP7200
Hmm, I know this sounds like a pain-in-the-ass, but could you do a
"dmesg" and send it to me? I want to make sure that, indeed, both
cd drives are being assinged those scdX identities.
Here's a quick run-down of what I did:
I have kernel 2.2.7. According to the lastest (VERY new) version
of the CD-WRITING HOWTO, under kernel 2.2.x, you can't have a
CD-ROM/R/RW drive using both ide-cd and ide-scsi. You can, however,
have one drive using ide-cd, and one using ide-scsi, provided you:
(This assumes both drives are ATAPI (IDE), and that hdc is your
regular CD-ROM, hdd is your burner.)
1) Build them as modules
2) Put something to the effect of of
append="hdc=ide-cd hdd=ide-scsi"
in your lilo.conf. Run "lilo"
3) put the following in your conf.modules:
options ide-cd ignore=hdd
options ide-scsi ignore=hdc
Actually, put them in the file (i forget the name) that debian
uses, (/etc/modutils/something-or-other) and run update-modules.
I know this doesn't directly solve your problem, but may give
you an idea about what's wrong.
