I'm not familiar with the hardware that runs HPUX, but if it has the same endianness as the VAX (little endian), you should not need to do anything. Otherwise, you will have to write some converter program or code that swaps bytes before using the files on the VAX. (The VAX has a nice assembler instruction for this. Makes it really simple).
