It probably still does contain all the /var/cache stuff.  When you mount
/var/cache, it just masks what is under /var/cache on the /var partition
-- it doesn't remove anything from that /var/cache.  If you unmount
/var/cache, you should still be able to see the files under /var/cache.
Just delete those, and remount /var/cache.
