First, at where have you got the ISO file?
http://cdimage.debian.org/

If you see some symlink of package on windows, you will get
that information. Please tell me a package name that md5sum
is incorrect, of course with full path.

WYY> The server 'says' that the size is 41 but it is actually 275k. Why?
Because automake_1.4-8.deb that you saw in the directory was
symlink in other directory. Such as,
lftp> ls -l automake_1.4-8.deb
lrwxrwxrwx 1 debian debian 41 Feb 16 18:50 automake_1.4-8.deb -> ../../binary-all/devel/automake_1.4-8.deb
lftp> cd ../../binary-all/devel/
lftp> ls -l automake_1.4-8.deb
-rw-rw-r-- 1 debian debian 282184 Mar 13 2000 automake_1.4-8.deb
