Probably a bad idea. If you remove the program at some later time, you'll have
to remember to remove the libraries. If you upgrade, you'll have to remember
to copy the new versions.

Better, IMHO, since symlinks take less space than the actual libraries. Also,
if you upgrade, you'll (most likely) get the new version.
However, you should not put them in /lib or /usr/lib. User-installed libraries
should go into /usr/local/lib. Edit /etc/ld.so.conf so that it includes
/usr/local/lib, and run ldconfig after you add the symlinks.

Probably the best option. You're probably looking for the LD_LIBRARY_PATH
environment variable.
