Then we will need a 'debian/rules repack' to include the update in the
tar ball (or the updates are discarded and the source package doesn't
match the binaries anymore).

It looks like we do have people working on sparc, powerpc and ix86;
what about m68k, arm, ultrasparc, mips and the hurd?
