I guess it was pretty much my fault: b/c I did an "gbp import-dsc" the 
changes were imported into the master branch, instead of the upstream 
branch. Therefore the "upstream/2.10.1" tag was on the master branch and 
no changes happened to the upstream branch.

I deleted the "upstream/2.10.1" tag locally and remotely and did an "gbp 
import-orig". Now a "git log" on the upstream branch shows the tag and I 
could run.
