Bug#683817: /usr/share/doc/texmf/pgf/pgfmanual.pdf.gz: texdoc pgfmanual.pdf.gz -> "Sorry, no documentation found"
Package: pgf
Version: 2.10-1
Severity: important
File: /usr/share/doc/texmf/pgf/pgfmanual.pdf.gz
X-Debbugs-CC: Debian TeX Maintainers <debian-tex-maint@lists.debian.org>
Dear pgf and texlive-base maintainers,
I observe the following behaviour:
$ grep "texdoc pgf" /usr/share/doc/pgf/README.Debian
For pdf document, run `texdoc pgfmanual.pdf.gz'.
$ texdoc pgfmanual.pdf.gz
Sorry, no documentation found for pgfmanual.pdf.gz.
If you are unsure about the name, try searching CTAN's TeX catalogue at
http://ctan.org/search.html#byDescription.
$
This means that the advertised method for reading the documentation for
pgf does no longer work. It is not clear whether this is a bug in pgf or
texlive-base (or something else). Please reassign the bug to the correct
package.
Some random remarks that may help in tracking this down:
1) /usr/share/doc/texmf/pgf/pgfmanual.pdf.gz actually exists and
contains the desired information.
2) /usr/share/texmf/ls-R lists pgfmanual.pdf.gz.
3) "texdoc pgfmanual.pdf.gz" reads /usr/share/texmf/ls-R.
4) The problem is a regression. That is to say it worked before. I
cannot name a good version though.
