Packages for tetex-beta at people.debian.org

Hi all,

I finally managed to put together packages for tetex-beta that are worth
public review again. They are based on
tetex-texmf-2.96.5.20040711.tar.gz and tetex-src-2.96.7.20040721.tar.gz,
that is, not on the latest beta.

The main difference to the packages previously available is that I made
most of the changes announced previously, first of all, I used eperl and
the tetex-common infrastructure. But the transition to eperl is by far
not complete: It is just beginning to show it's benefits. Finally, I
plan to move the commands that are now in rules.d/install.mk to a script
(or several) that is also generated by eperl, in order to make use of
the benefits of eperl.

The packages are not very well tested. I just verified that they
can be installed, removed and purged cleanly on a clean system, and that
latex, pdflatex, and dvips can be run and find the files they need,
including basic font files (CM, LM, bluesky).

Upgrading from 2.0.2 seems to be possible, but there will be an error
preventing configuration, which can easily be fixed (manually rename
sphyph.tex to sehyph.tex in language.dat).

The files I uploaded are:
http://people.debian.org/tetex-common/*
http://people.debian.org/tetex-base_2.96.5.20040711.orig.tar.gz
http://people.debian.org/tetex-base_2.96.5.20040711-4.diff.gz
http://people.debian.org/tetex-base_2.96.5.20040711-4.dsc
http://people.debian.org/tetex-bin_2.96.7.20040721.orig.tar.gz
http://people.debian.org/tetex-bin_2.96.7.20040721-1.diff.gz
http://people.debian.org/tetex-bin_2.96.7.20040721-1.dsc

The description for the usage of the tetex-common directory is in the
debian/rules files, but you don't need it for testing. In case I forgot
some fixes for that in tetex-base - if it complains about "no rule to
make target *update/*newer", just touch the file.

Regards, Frank
