This is in the template about automatic generation of
updmap.cfg. Strangely, it says that one should use /etc/texmf/texmf.d
for putting file which allow to custom updmap.cfg
Isn't this s copy/paste arror ? I guess the directory is another
one....the same way you have /etc/texmf/fmt.d for customizing
/etc/texmf/fmtutil.cnf
