You are right, it works and generates necessary *.mf files.

Well, I encountered this problem when I was pdflatex'ing maint-guide.tex
with a bit modification to use ec/tc fonts. And my system had ecbx1095.mf
and ecbx1095.tfm but not ecbx1095.400pk at the time (I used mode=sparcptr
and dpi=400) then "pdflatex maint-guide" said as follows;

Warning: pdflatex (file ecbx1095): Font ecbx1095 at 400 not found

(Of course 'ecbx1095' is only an example and there were many more
ec* fonts in the same situation.)

So I thought there was incomleteness of ec/tc fonts in Debian but
this was completely my misunderstanding.

I deleted all ec/tc related files from /var/spool/texmf and did
try again "pdflatex maint-guide" then it worked correctly;

and every necessary *.tfm, *.mf, *.400pk are generated automatically
and there is no problem at all.

Very sorry for my misunderstanding and thanks for your suggestion.

Now I have few more question:

- We have Type1 CM fonts (BlueSky fonts) but it seems there is
no Type1 EC/TC fonts. Is this right and is this not inconvenient?

- I can not found so useful documents on PDFTeX/LaTeX. I found
pdftexman.pdf and pdfTeX-FAQ.pdf in /usr/share/doc/texmf/pdftex/base/
but they did not provide so much information.
For example they did not contain any information on the above question
(i.e. Type1 ec/tc fonts) nor how to use PK fonts with PDFTeX/LaTeX.

Well, I am completely new to PDFTeX/LaTeX so I am looking for
any information on this.

(I might be on vacation and could not reply so rapidly for a while.)

Best Regards,			2000.8.13
