That works, but it means that anyone typesetting a document using
the Blue Sky/AMS/Y&Y Computer Modern fonts will have problems.
You can fix this problem on the command line by specifying ``-G0''
to suppress the effects of G for that run. A longer term fix
would be to set up another dvips configuration file that is
identical to /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/config.pdf except for
the G flag.
It's hard to say whether or not the default config.pdf file should
include the G flag without knowing which group is larger: those
using the Type 1 Computer Modern fonts or those using other Type 1
fonts. No matter what you do, one of those groups will be
unhappy.
