Package: upgrade-reports
Version: lenny to squeeze

I just upgrade my old IBM Thinkpad X30 from lenny to squeeze. When I
rebooted the system with squeeze kernel image 2.6.32-5-686, the screen
went black during the boot process.

I googled a bit and found that if i change in file
/etc/modprobe.d/i915-kms.conf line

i915 modeset=1

to

i915 modeset=0

then the system boots ok, but when starting of X fails , because it
cannot open /dev/fb0 (no such file).

Any ideas on how I could avoid getting black screen AND getting X to
work? The system worked fine with lenny.

Hi,

I'm closing this bug as lenny is not supported anymore. I'm also sorry for the
lack of response to your bug report, this is rather unusual and should not
happen.

cheers,
	Holger
